Reshaping cocoa farming
What the Cocoa Horizons Foundation does
The Cocoa Horizons Foundation is an independent foundation with the mission to improve cocoa farmer livelihoods through the promotion of sustainable and entrepreneurial farming practices, and to strengthen systems in cocoa communities ensuring that nature and children are protected.
Under Prospering Farmers, the Cocoa Horizons Foundation supports farmers on the ground with activities, such as coaching, access to farm inputs, quality seedlings, and farm labor to enhance farm productivity and income for the long term.
How?
The Foundation's efforts extend across 7 countries, in Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Cameroon, Nigeria, Indonesia, Brazil and Ecuador. With approximately 1400 coaches and professionals in the field, the Cocoa Horizons Foundation works directly with the farmers.
Callebaut supports the Foundation’s holistic approach to sustainable cocoa farming. Examples of activities include:
Access to quality inputs | The Cocoa Horizons Foundation ensures access to essential inputs, such as soil enhancers, crop protection, and improved planting material, all carefully selected to meet the specific needs of the farmer concerned. |
Farm labour support | Labor groups help farmers improve their yields by demonstrating optimal pruning techniques. They also tackle labor shortages and provide crucial support during peak seasons. |
