World Chocolate Masters

Welcome to the world’s premium international culinary competition devoted solely to the creative use of chocolate in all its applications. It is open to the world’s most talented chocolate craftsmen and women, the winner becoming World Chocolate Master.
No fewer than 20 upcoming and extremely gifted chocolate wizards will take part in the international finals to be held during October 2009 in Paris. In front of a live audience and a jury of professionals, they will have to demonstrate the highest possible degree of creativity and chocolate skills. Only 1 of them will become the World Chocolate Master 2009.

Mark Tilling wins the UK Chocolate Masters competition


The World Chocolate Masters is the premier global event for chocolatiers, patissiers and pastry chefs. The search for the worlds greatest exponent of chocolate work begins now with a series of National Selections to be held throughout all corners of the earth and ending with a World final in October 2009. The UK National Pre-Selection of the World Chocolate Masters took place at the Restaurant Show on 6th October 2008

Mark Tilling kept his promise and impressed the jury and public at the UK Chocolate Masters competition with the most beautiful showpieces and delicious creations. Mark is the pastry chef at Lainston House Hotel, Winchester, and holder of the UK Chocolate Master title 2007. Mark will be put forward to represent Great Britain at the World Finals taking place at the Salon du Chocolat in Paris in October 2009.

Runners-up were Oliver Drayton (2nd place) and Sebastian Kobelt (3rd place).  

The public voted for the best pralines and awarded Sebastian Kobelt with the "People's Choice Praline". A jury of chocolatiers voted for Oliver Drayton and gave him the "Chocolatiers' Choice Praline".
